2026 LA CHORAL LAB AUDITION INFORMATION
The LA Choral Lab is excited to announce auditions for the 2026 concert season. We are looking for every voice type, so please apply and let us hear you sing!
The audition process is in two parts:
Before applying, please note that we generally rehearse on Sunday evenings from 2-5PM, with one evening dress rehearsal on the Wednesday before each concert. Our concert dates for 2026 are
Spring Concert: Saturday, May 2nd
Rehearsal Dates: 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 4/29
Fall Concert: Saturday, November 21st
Tentative Rehearsal Dates: 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/18
If you are auditioning, please hold these dates in your calendar; we will ask those called back to complete a full RSVP form.
The audition process is in two parts:
- First, everyone will send in their recorded audition materials by the submission deadline of Friday, February 6th. Recorded materials will be anonymized and then reviewed by a committee of singer-leaders.
- Then, based on the recordings we receive, we will select a group of singers to attend in-person callbacks, held on Sunday, February 22nd from 2pm to 8pm. Singers who are being called back will receive notice and further information by February 15th at the latest. Those singers called back will not need to prepare any additional solos.

HOW TO AUDITION:
CLICK HERE to fill out the audition form. You will also upload TWO music clips of yourself singing. In order to upload these files through the audition form, you will need to have a Google account; If you do not already have one, you can create one for free.
For the first clip, you will sing your vocal part on an excerpt of "Ubi Caritas" by Duruflé. For the second clip, you may sing any contemporary song of your choice—pop, jazz, musical theater, folk, etc.

- The two clips must be recorded live, using the Voice Memo feature on a smartphone. The songs must be sung a cappella, without any instruments or accompaniment. The files must not be edited, enhanced, pitch-corrected, or altered in any way. Please include your first and last name in the file titles (example: JohnDoeClip1.m4a).
- Each clip must be 45-60 seconds long.
- For the first clip, download the sheet music excerpt of "Ubi Caritas" HERE. Select the voice part that fits you best, and record it in one unedited take.
- The other clip can be any contemporary song of your choice—pop, jazz, musical theater, folk, etc. Pick a piece that inspires you! We want to hear your personal musical style in this clip.
- As these clips will be anonymized and reviewed blind, we ask that your recordings include only the required musical content (and that you not introduce yourself or mention your name in the recording itself).
