COVID-19 Protocols
The SOUNDWALK is intended to be a self-navigated, socially distanced experience. As such, we ask that you please follow our common-sense COVID-19 safety protocols:
- All attendees are required to comply with local guidelines and to wear a mask at all times during the program. Event facilitators will wear masks and will follow regular hand sanitization schedules.
- If you are attending with friends or family, please arrive with your group and remain with your own group for the duration of your SOUNDWALK experience.

Prior to attending SOUNDWALK, download the ECHOES App
It is extremely important that you prepare your device prior to attending in order to avoid any technical challenges at the event site. To prepare your device, do the following:
- Download the ECHOES Explore App onto your iOS or Android smartphone. (Apple version; Google Play version)
- Click on this link on your smartphone to open the L.A. Choral Lab Soundwalk within the ECHOES Explore app.
- On the page displaying the L.A. Choral Lab Soundwalk, select “DOWNLOAD” instead of “STREAM.” This is a very important step; streaming the walk may cause technical issues, and the walk downloads much faster on WiFi than via cell phone data. Downloading our walk in your ECHOES app ahead of time ensures that, regardless of phone service, you can have a seamless listening experience from the moment you press “Start the Walk!”
- The ECHOES app will provide you with further information about the location of the experience and how to listen in. Event maps can be found below and are linked here.
What to bring to your SOUNDWALK
- Your smartphone, fully charged
- Your headphones
- Your mask!
On the Day of Your SOUNDWALK
- Make sure your phone is fully charged the day of the event (and don't forget your headphones!).
- When you arrive at Griffith Park, park at Griffith Park Merry Go Round Lot 2. (Which may involve driving through Lot 1.) Walk to the north end of the parking lot, and take the stairs down to the park level.
- Power up the ECHOES app. If you downloaded the L.A. Choral Lab Soundwalk ahead of time, you can select it in the app menu.
- The app will display your location, along with blue shapes that show the locations of the sound exhibits. From the check-in area, proceed to the left to enter “In Situ” in the Old Zoo Area, and proceed to the right and turn right into the grassy field to enter “Rain Cycle.” The moment you begin to pass through the shapes in the in-app map, your headphones will start to reveal our auditory safari to you.
- The entire SOUNDWALK experience is designed to last between 60 and 90 minutes. The option exists to stop and take breaks (with your headphones on or off) at any time. The SOUNDWALK experience will continue to be available in the ECHOES app until May 16, 2021.
- When you are ready to conclude your experience, you can close the app and return to your vehicle. As a reminder, please do not congregate with other attendees who are not in your household before, during, or after the event.
